SF in general and California in particular haven't been doing too hot lately crime-wise. You can find stories all over the webs:
Luckily, there is a way for tech workers to stop it. It's simple - they need to join forces and unite in a singular pursuit of committing as many small crimes as possible in as public a fashion as possible.
The reason it will work is that it will strike at the theoretical underpinning of the stop-crime-enforcement policies that led us here. The theory goes roughly:
Small property crime is not a failure of an individual but a failure of their society to provide the opportunity for them to have a crime-free lifestyle. It is an abuse of privilige to enforce crimes that we drove people to desperation to commit.
This only works as long as it's the underprivileged class committing crimes. As soon as it's privileged rich tech workers stealing stuff, there will instantly arrive a moral panic and policies will have to change.
Work for Uber? Steal a bag from a car.
Work for AirBnB? Break a window.
Work for Twitter? Sell drugs on Market St.
Work for OnlyFans? You get the idea.
Recently IPOd? Invest in an armored car, an armored suit and go on a property destruction spree with your own camera crew.
The more privilege you have, the higher your responsibility to commit crimes.
Just make sure to not commit any crimes that are serious enough to be enforced.
Commit crimes. Restore order. Save the city. Be the hero your city needs you to be.
